*insert cliche graduation song by either green day or vitamin c*

That was a great four years.
I am going to miss all of my wonderful, smart, beautiful friends. I look up to all of them so much. I am going to miss the school, the teachers, the odd creatures that attended the school...
But I am really excited for my future. I am proud of the person high school has shaped me into, and I can't wait to head into college and a salon and learn to do what I love.
This is it!
Bring it on! :)

life's a happy song, when there's someone by your side to sing along

I really do like blogging.
I swear.
I'm just not in the habit of it anymore. But hopefully I'll get there.

I am almost done with high school! Graduation day is six days away! Yeah! Close!

While I count down the minutes before I am officially a high school graduate, please enjoy my prom pictures.

And then we boogied all night and had a grand old time. :)

Deeeeep breaaaathhhhsssss....

Writing is therapeutic for me. I have realized this.

Throughout my day, a thousand thoughts zip through my head.
When I write, I am spewing out a part of my mind. This quite literally relieves pressure in my head, quite literally calming headaches for me, headaches that are probably caused by a mind clogged with observations, ideas, worries, jokes, movie quotes, and whatever else is up there.
Therefore, I am going to start journaling regularly. If I journal something I feel is worth blogging, I will. Which hopefully means I will be on here much more often than lately.

Today, in my third hour English 102 class, I was frantically typing a research paper comparing poverty in the United States to poverty worldwide. I was panicking because this paper is due tomorrow, and I had only skimmed the surface of this paper. By the end of the hour, I had four out of the required 7 to 10 pages done. I felt quite accomplished, and deciding that I must be having some sort of Jimmy Neutron-esque brain blast, I thought I'd continue working on the paper the next hour (lunch hour) in my mom's classroom. So I clicked SAVE, logged out, and merrily walked to my mom's classroom.

When I got there, I logged back in, and opened the file "Poverty US and World".
I was distraught to see that the 1 1/2 pages I had started with that morning was all that was left. I had saved the rest to the computer that was downstairs and across campus. I huffed and puffed over there to see if I could email the full-length document to myself, but it was nowhere to be found! All that work I had done in third hour, lost in an abyss forever!

On top of this, I have a monsterous test in beauty school tomorrow.
"Pshhaah. Beauty school? Monsterous? Please..." you say.
Oh dude. You have no idea. I would rather take an AP test than the cursed "Cosmetology School Board Test".
Well, maybe. They are probably parallel in scariness and whatnot.
Shiver...

Anyway, wish me luck. I could only stay for a moment, for now I must get back to my dang-stinking essay.
All will be well. After tomorrow, it will be Thursday, and I think Thursday is my favorite day of the week. Then, on Friday, it will be senior ditch day, and then I will have a sleepover with my bestie-friend Jadyn Maree, before we go to the zoo and prom with our dates! Yes, we are totes dateable. Don't forget it.

Peace and blessings, PEACE and BLESSINGS.

Bloggy world? Is that you?

Wow. Holy kenoli. Have I been neglecting you or WHAT. I honestly don't even remember the last time I blogged. Before Christmas. Maybe even before Thanksgiving! Whats wrong with me? Oh yeah...

Pinterest.com.

Duuuuuuude can I please fangirl about Pinterest right. Now.
I love it. Just go on it. You will be addicted.

Unless you have a job or loved ones who depend on you. Then don't even try it once, please.
Haha just kidding. Do it, do it! You will be fureakin' enlightened.

Anywhayyyyy.
I guess I'll update you since we've even apart so dang long. Hmm let's see.

Oh, I'm in my last semester of high school (*do a dance*). And then me and my best friend, the lovely Jadyn Maree, are staying home and going to community college! (party like it's 1999)
Aren't our lives so glamorous and exciting?

Well, I will have my cosmetology license by then, so I will work in a lovely salon (my mom thinks this is odd, but I wanna work at the salon at ulta. why? i dunno. why not??) after two years, I'll transfer to Arizona State University (i think, but you know how plans change..) and pursue a degree in elementary education! So that's my life plan. And since I'm a senior in high school, I'm quite positive that I know everything, and I'm also quite positive that ALL of the plans I have now WILL work out. Because I'm an all-knowing 17 year old girl.

sArCaSm... But I do know a ton of people with that kind of thinking. Foolish children.

Oh! And recently I was all stressed out because beauty school was gonna be asking me a truckload of money, like almost $1000. Which is a lot for a school that advertised free education. Hmmmmm. BUT! Then I applied for financial aid from FAFSFA, and they are paying for every last dime! That is pretty much the most exciting news I've heard all year.
Besides the fact that I'm going to Disneyland in April for choir tour. Hip hip hooray.

Alright, bloggy readers, if I have any of you anymore. I will be more diligent in providing you with a regular dose of wonderfulness via blog. I have been neglectful, and I think I'm back. Yay :) I miss blogging.

i've decided what to do with my life.
well, you know, as far as i can control at this point.
in may i will graduate from high school {obvi}
in june i will finish beauty school and get my license as a cosmetologist. i will immediately look for work as a hairdresser.
then, in the fall i will be going to chandler-gilbert community college. after two years of that junk, i will transfer to arizona state university to major in journalism.

it feels nice to have a plan. :)

life is a big fat road trip.

so, i finished my personal progress yesterday.
*commence happy dance*
did you know i have the coolest happy dance ever?
you may or may not have known that.
well, people compliment me on it, like, always. seriously.
SOOOANYWAYSSSSS.
yeah. i just have to get my bishops interview tomorrow, and then i have young women in excellence on tuesday, so hopefully i'll get that lovely little medallion that night,so yeah. i'll pretty much be a babe.
a humble babe.

oh yeah, i almost forgot. i have a story.
it's kind of an old story. but whatevs.
so on tuesday, i was innocently sitting in the computer lab for 3rd hour english 101.
i was working intently on a film review for the movie minority report, when i heard someone pull into the chair next to me and SIGH. i didn't really notice this kid, because hello, i was kinda in the zone, people. but soon, he started asking me questions about the essay, what the teacher was looking for, things like that. then he rolled his little rollie chair to the other side of the room. okayyy.
soon, however, this kid was back. he asked me my name, and i told him. he told me he noticed i had a flower in my hair. good observation. and then he rolled away again. i was beginning to be weirded out.
i returned to my work. he rolled over again, and just kind of sat there. not even working on his essay. then my wonderful princess-friend victoria walked in (she was delivering something for another teacher or something) and she talked to me for a few minutes, alleviating the situation of the random awkward kid next to me. but as soon as she left, he turned to me again..
"so can i take you to homecoming?"

the thoughts running through my head: "whyyyyyyy is this happening to meeeeeee...." "i don't even really want friends in this class. i'm anti-social, and i want to work on my ESSAYS." and "i. don't. even. know. this. kid's. name."

i turned to him and tried to smile. "you know, i don't really know you. i don't feel comfortable going to homecoming with someone i've barely met."
he replied in the middle of my sentence, "oh, that's fine, that's fine, that's totally cool.... so you wanna have lunch together?"
I tried to answer, "I uhh--"
"Yeah, come on, yeahh?"
"Uh--"
"Okay. I deserve a hug. Gimme a hug."
sooooo i awkwardly (i didn't mean for it to be awkward, i was trying to be as friendly and nice and non-heartbreakerish as i could, but i was CERTAINLY not happy) put my arm around his back and immediately returned to my essay. then sporatically throughout the remainder of the period:
"hey so what do you like to do in your freetime?"
"you're really really pretty. maybe we should hang out."
"what's your favorite kind of music" (and when i told him i liked country best), "oh, COUNTRY? lame. i'm going to get you into rap."
yeah. this is NNNOOOTTT gonna fly.
i DEFINITELY did not get as much of that essay done as i would have liked to.
as class ended, the following conversation happened:
emily: "um, i need to go to my mom's classroom to get something from her."
kid: "oh, okay, can i come with you?"
emily: "i think i'll be fine on my own, thanks."
emily walks away faster than she ever has before.

so then i ran to my mom's classroom and whined the whole story to her.
"and now he's waiting for me out there! i wanna hide!"
"emily, it's just a boy. you are such a freak."
"yes, well. alright."
something like that.

so i went to lunch. ate at my regular lunch table. stood the kid up. and oh, yeah. my mom is friends with my 3rd hour teacher so i made her figure out for me what this kid's name was.

the next day, i went to the computer lab and sat by a girl who seemed nice and normal to me. i was left in peace the whole class period to make up for my lack of productivity the day before thank you very much. but at the end of class, he approached me.
"so was that a yes or a no?"
"yeah, uh, i'm sorry. i'm just really not interested right now. i'm not dating anyone, and i don't plan on it this year. that's all."
"yeah, me neither. totally too busy for that."
..okay. so i offered friendship:
"you can, uh, eat at my table with my friends if you'd like. that'd be cool."
"well, no, i don't know your friends. that would be awkward!"
i wanted to slap the kid. THAT would be awkward? how about the last 24 hours of my life?
so the next day he asked for my number, and since a few people had told me to not be a jerk, i gave it to him. i told him i only wanted to text on it, and he said he didn't have texting. which i think was a blessing. i have gotten a couple of voicemail messages, and if he asks, hey, i told him texting only.

i wish i went to an all-girls school, for aspiring mormon nuns.

eet mor chikin.

So, to keep you updated...
Life has been a little busy. I've been applying to jobs. Last week I actually got 3 interviews with Chick-Fil-A! I was absolutely thrilled! I really like the atmosphere of the place, and the manager is a really nice guy! They told me they'd call me back that weekend.
And so Friday afternoon I called to ask if they were making a decision, and they said they'd know the next week. Fair enough. So I waited all this week. On Thursday, I called again and asked if they knew yet. And they said, "I WILL call you back in the next 24 hours and tell you!"
Fair enough again. I waited 24 hours. Within that 24 hours I sang the national anthem at a Diamondbacks-Giants game in a 1200 person choir. No big deal. Anyway, I had my phone cradled in my hands the whole time, just waiting for Chick-Fil-A's number to pop up on my phone.
No phone call. Great. Now I have to be annoying.
So I called back today. The guy knew who it was when I called. That's how annoying I was. I was sure they would hire me just to get me off their back. So the guy checked the list, and...
No. They gave me 3 interviews and they didn't even want me.
Chumps.
So Forever 21 just so happened to be within 100 feet of me when I received this sad news, so you can only imagine what happened next.
18 dollas, a pair of jeggings, and a slub t-shirt later, I felt quite a bit better. :)
Back to the drawing board. I think I'll apply at some clothing stores. Maybe a couple yogurt places. Yum. How about Target? Ooh, good idea.

P.S. You were wondering about that whole 1200 person choir Diamondbacks-Giants thing weren't you?? Well, it was kind of fun. We just sand the National Anthem before the game. If you watched it, I'm not gonna lie you probably didn't see me. It really was 1200 people.

Here's me and my friends Jadyn and Rania on the field beforehand.

Yup, a good time indeed.

P.P.S. So my not-so-little brother Keaton went in to the doctor yesterday to get a sprained ankle checked out. Well, it turns out this sprained ankle was a blessing in disguise, because when they took the x-rays, they also discovered a decent (why am i saying decent, it was terrible) sized tumor in Keaton's bone. It has eaten 70% of the bone in his lower leg near his ankle. The good news is that it doesn't look like it is cancerous. And we're glad we caught it, because it could have snapped his bone in two if we hadn't. He has to have surgery done to remove it and fill in the bone, and after that things should be fine, but if you could keep my little buddy in your prayers, that would mean the world to me. Thank you!

a little early to be worrying...

I have a whole 8 months to decide this, but of course, being the Emily that I am, I am freaking out. Now.
I have 3 choices in community colleges next year. Two are both somewhat near to my house, where my mama is. But one is about 3 hours away. There are pro's and cons for both of these.
Nearby college pros:
~Mother dearest
~Hometown
~Cheaper
~Not having to live on my own

Faraway college pros:
~Best friend will be roomate
~Beautiful small town
~Great school
~New experience

Aah. I'm scared to be three hours away. I can't even drive right now. I mean, of course I'll learn by then, but gosh!
But it would be so exciting and fun to go afar! With my best friend! Come on, people! We'd have such a good time! And it's such a good school! And it's only 2 years! (O.o) Of course, I'd have to come up with some more money than what I've got. And I'd have to find a job over there. What if I couldn't find a job?? I'd be done for, people. Done for.
I really wish I would have listened to my mother when I was 12 and making bank off of babysitting jobs, when she said "Put it in a college fuuuund!" Oh how I wish I hadn't used that cash to buy my heart's fill of High School Musical t-shirts and Lizzie McGuire CDs. Silly child.
Well there's my venting for the day. I'm better.

I'm totes not doing that lyrics thing anymore. Too much effort.

Totes is a funny word. Isn't this a tote?
Uh, something like that, right? Okay.

So beauty school starts tomorrow! And school starts Wednesday!

I hope I hope I hope {and wish upon a star and knock on wood and do a rain dance} that I will meet a nice person to be friends with in beauty school. Because seriously, by the looks of last year, this place is just crawling with shallow sluts sweet spirited daughters of God.
Uhhhhmmmmmm yeeeeah. That's right too.
...

Buuuuuuut! I am positive that regular, normal, nothing-special high school will be great this year! I mean, for reals, dude. I have seminary with my brother. And he is cooler than me, even {maybe}. Also, I have choir. Choir! I never thought I'd miss old fart Sargent's grouchy voice. But alas, I do. Even more, though, I miss singing without being told to shut up. I miss my Camille, Artemisa, Rania, Kailey! I miss it all, people. I miss it allll. Gimme choir. Also, my best friend Jadyn will be coming back to Ridge! And we'll have choir and econ/government together, and lunch! Who's excited? Me. And not just Jadyn, I'll have lunch with the majority of my friends! Except for Keaton {hangs head and sniffles}. And my schedule is like, super easy to the max. I mean, seminary, choir, econ/gov, comp 101 {which is a college credit and requires very little reading}, and cosmetology. Seriously people. I can do this with my eyes closed.

And to top it of, it's my senior year! So it'll be just like this, right?

Right! Let's do this thing.

The night's a perfect shade of dark blue.

Let the happy dances commence, because
I FiNiShEd My OnLiNe ClAsS!
And I'm as giddy as can be, I tell you! And life is lo-lo-lovin' me right now. :)
In honor of my joy, enJOY this funny little photograph.
{unfortunately, the above pun WAS intended}

Baha! That's a giggle.

My favorite word today is "wild."

This is what procrastinating on an online computer basics class looks like:

Because seriously, watching Microsoft Office tutorials and making spreadsheets about cupcake sales? Boooring.
